Illingworth 154 for 7 beat Mytholmroyd 153 all out - 10th & 11th July 2007

Score not available yet

The 3rd XI finally got their semi-final clash with Mytholmroyd played after a week and a half of rain and managed to win to get into the final.

Mytholmroyd were put into bat by Karl Gornall and raced to 120 for 2 with 10 overs to go. Their last 8 wickets went down very quickly, however, Ben Robertshaw taking 3 for 19.

Illingworth didn't produce their best form with the bat and it was left down to a superb innings from Steve Smith (65*) and young Callum Cook (30* off 14 balls) to smash Illingworth into the final to be played at Queensbury on September 9th.

The undefeated 3rd Reich XI travelled to Blackley in search of another victory with a fairly strong lineup behind them. Captain Gornall won the toss and elected to bowl hoping to exploit the damp track early on, however some bowlers found it tricky and slid too much. Karamat Hussain faired well though, bowling his allotted 10 overs straight through, picking up the wickets of both openers.

Runs were piled on thanks to a small boundary and some sloppy Illingworth fielding as Blackley raced to 170 for 4 with 10 overs to go, Liam Kelly picking up a wicket in amongst it. Tight bowling towards the end though from Jamie Moorhouse (2 for 39) Luke Brooksby (2 for 33) restricted Blackley to 220 which was gettable considering the strength of the ICC batting lineup.

The top order didn't fair too well against the new ball, as Ste Cook, Liam Kelly and Baboo were all back in the pavillion with the score on 22 for 3 after 8.1 overs. This brought in Luke Brooksby (46), Jamie Moorhouse (20) and Matty Cook who took advantage of bad balls to put on 86 in 10 overs before Brooksby and Moorhouse were back in the pavillion. With the score on 108 with 27 overs to go the total was easily doable, it was just whether Illingworth could stop losing wickets.

Matthew and Callum Cook helped this cause somewhat, Callum getting out on 27, but Matty Cook continued to put away bad balls at the other end. Useful contributions from Karl Gornall and a 'quickfire' 7 from Sam McAdam put Illingworth within touching distance, but when Matty Cook was out three short of his half century and with 15 still to get the pressure was on ICC.

Step up veterans Karamat Hussain and Kevin Doherty who saw out a nervous final six overs to win with a ball to spare.
