Chance to Shine Kwik Cricket Rules

TEAMS

· Each team will consist of strictly 4 BOYS & 4 GIRLS, one of whom will be the wicketkeeper.

· (Please bring only 8 players as there will only be sufficient prizes and certificates for this number of players!)

COMPETITION FORMAT

The competition will be run in 3 stages

1st stage - "Round Robin" Matches

· Each school will play all other schools in their designated group of 4 teams / Schools.

· All second innings teams will bat until the Timekeeper signals the end of the innings (irrespective of second exceeding the first inning team's score) unless bowled all out.

· The School scoring the highest aggregate of runs in all three matches will top the group at the end of all matches. The group WILL NOT BE DECIDED on matches won, drawn or lost!

2nd Stage - "Fantastic Fours" (Semi-Finals)

· The winners of each group will play against each other in a separate semi-final type knockout competition.

· The 2nd Placed Schools in each group will play against each other in a separate semi-final type knockout competition.

· The 3rd Placed Schools in each group will play against each other in a separate semi-final type knockout competition.

· The 4th Placed Schools in each group will play against each other in a separate semi-final type knockout competition.

3rd Stage - "FINALS"

· The winners of each semi-final will play each other in a 'Final', the losers of the semi-final in a Runners-Up or 3rd/4th Place position.

· The overall Competition Final will be watched by all participating Schools.

· Should there be a tie in the Round Robin Group stage, the sides will be split as follows :

o the side conceding the least runs will be deemed the winner.

o the side scoring the most runs between the same two sides;

o the side scoring most runs against the next successful side in the group.

o the side conceding the least runs against the next successful side in the group.

MATCHES / INNINGS

Normal KWIK Cricket Rules will apply except for the following :-

· Each Match will commence at the sound of the Central Control's Loud Haler or bell.

· Each side will bat for @ 12 minutes and finish at the sound of the Central Control's Loud Haler.

· Each batsmen will, in turn, receive 1 delivery from the bowler for the duration of the innings.

· Batsmen can be 'out' in all the usual ways except LBW or stumped (except for the Final).

· Batsmen who are 'out' will sit behind the stumps opposite the batting side who are lined up in batting order behind a row of cones / domes.

· All teams will keep the same batting order once a match has commenced.

BOWLING / UMPIRING / SCORING

· A designated adult or member of staff will bowl under arm for each innings.

· The Umpire / Bowler will keep score and adjudicate on any decisions to be made.

· As soon as the bowler is ready s/he may bowl whether the batsman is ready or not.

SCORING

· There will be no boundaries (4 or 6s).

· A batsman will accumulate as many runs as s/he can without being 'out' during each ball received.

· The batsman can be run out at the wicket s/he is running towards.

· The Tournament Organiser's decision shall be final.

CLOTHING

· All players should wear suitable games kit / footwear.

EQUIPMENT

· All bats, balls, wickets etc. will be provided.

LUNCHTIME

· School Staff should supervise their own pupils during the lunchtime period.

· Children will be able to sit and eat their packed lunch in the Cricket Club Pavilion.

· There will be pop, crisps and sweets available to be bought from the Cricket Club.
