View scorecard

Stuart Thompson arranged a trip to Whitby in the return leg of the ongoing Illingworth vs Whitby fixtures.

Tommo won an invisible toss and elected to bat first with twins James Lawton and Niall Lockley opening the batting. The two brothers from separate mothers put on 89 for the first wicket before Niall (or James, no one knows) was out for 33. The other carried on to make 60 from 64 balls before Craig Fellows hit an unbeaten 30 off 18 then the rain came down.

The match was abandoned after 25 overs and a few beverages were drunk instead.
Illingworth 225 for 8 def Church Fenton 224 for 6 - 15th Apr 2007
The club got its first win of the year in a 40 over friendly against Wetherby League outfit Church Fenton, which featured former Yorkshire and England player Jim Love.

The club's new overseas player, Paul Maziakowski, made his debut for the club along with new signings Alex Lees and Andy Ingham, while Grant Lockley played his first match at Illingworth for two years.

Paul opened the bowling and picked up his first two wickets in consecutive balls towards the end of his spell, finishing with figures of 2 for 20 from five overs. Tight bowling from most, if not all* bowlers gave Church Fenton 224 off 40 overs, with Steve Smith (2 for 15), Andy Ingham (1 for 26) and Jamie Moorhouse (1 for 22) picking up the other wickets, Moorhouse's being that of Jim Love.

Some dropped catches, including two from Andy Dixon and an easy one from Alex Ledger who decided to show off and try and catch it diving with his left hand, meant that Church Fenton got more than they should have.

James Lawton got the batting off to a flying start hitting loads of fours as usual, and then getting out, as usual, for 20. Grant came in at 3 for some batting practice and contributed 26, but the main partnership of the innings came from Richard Smith and Luke Brooksby, who put on about 80 before Richard retired on 62. Luke carried on to make 33 while Paul scored 18 off 9 balls beating Dan's total last year most likely.

Young Ste Cook hit the winning run as ICC won by two wickets.
